C-SAW,
Consortium for Scientific Assistance to Watersheds, is a group of
technical specialists available to assist on watershed activities.
Help
is available for organizations and agencies to gain the knowledge and
skills necessary to successfully complete a Growing Greener Grant or
prepare an accurate application for a grant
This
Growing Greener Grant Program is part of the Pennsylvania Department
of Environmental Protection’s effort to protect and improve the
state’s watersheds.
Seven
organizations are available to help. The participating technical
experts are
Alliance
for Aquatic
Resource Monitoring at Dickinson College, NRCS, PALMS
(Pennsylvania Lakes Management Society), Western
PA Coalition for Abandoned Mine Reclamation (WPCAMR), Delaware Riverkeeper
Network,
Stroud
Water
Research
Center
and the
United States Geological Survey.
These
specialists will not conduct the monitoring or complete the projects
but are available
to help identify solutions and provide training to accurately monitor
activities.
Some
of the services available include: determining watershed issues,
selecting appropriate equipment, identifying macroinvertebrates,
riparian and stream restoration, and data interpretation. This
partnership’s free services will be available for the next two
years.

This project is funded by
the Growing Greener Program, which is part of the Pennsylvania
Department of Environmental Protection's effort to protect and improve
the state's watersheds.

These technical experts
will not conduct the monitoring or develop the plans but will work with
program participants to transfer the necessary knowledge and skills for
them to identify watershed goals, collect and interpret credible data,
and develop nonpoint source treatments.
Groups, organizations,
educational institutions, municipalities, and government agencies that
are eligible to apply for the Growing Greener Program are elibible to
receive assistance through C-SAW.
